Nominations for AOCA Awards Being Accepted

AOCA is full of talented members. AOCA provides opportunities for members to recognize and lift up their colleagues.  Public recognition culminates at the Conclave held at the Annual Convention.

Now is the time to look around, examine, and nominate a College member who you deem worthy of such accolades.  This is a REMINDER and primer of the numerous categories available.

  • FELLOW of the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists (FAOCA)
    • Earned through active participation in the College and the profession.
    • A Candidate is nominated by an existing Fellow (Sponsor).  Packet sent to Awards & Honors Chair and the office.
    • Packet to include nominee CV, completed Points spreadsheet, and a letter from the Sponsor on why the Candidate is worthy.
    • DEADLINE for submissions is January 15.
  • Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Award
    • Criteria is based upon the Arnold P. Gold’s Foundation on the attributes of a humanistic doctor:
      • Integrity, Excellence, Compassion, Altruism, Respect, Empathy, & Service.
    • Anyone can be nominated.  Packet sent to Awards & Honors Chair and the office.
    • Packet consists of nomination letter focusing on “How candidate lives up to humanistic doctor attributes” and nominee’s CV.  While not required other letters of support are strongly encouraged.
    • DEADLINE for submissions is January 15.
  • Timothy D. Ernst Memorial Scholarship
    • Recognizes up to two Resident members for their leadership and scholarship.
    • Nomination made by a Program Director. 
    • Letter should be sent to Awards & Honors Chair and the office.
    • DEADLINE for submission is  January 15.
    • Funding for this award is through your generous donations to the Timothy D. Ernst Memorial Fund.  Donations can be made online.
  • Best Scientific Paper Award
    • Complete scholarly activity and research.
    • Must be an original contribution or a case study/report.
    • Scientific Papers are reviewed by the Awards and Honors Committee and ranked accordingly
    • DEADLINE for submissions is January 15.

All awards are reviewed by the Board of Governors for final approval.
